Gameplay: Sword & Sworcery EP

at 16:47 - 15th, March 2010

very stylized game, looks like a lot of fun depending on the length. my only concern is the fact that it's not on a real gaming machine, the iphone.

Don't take that headline as a negative -- Capybara and Superbrothers' iPhone title Sword & Sworcery EP is one of the most interesting games I've seen for the platform in some time. In other words, summing it up in a brief sentence is difficult and, more importantly, wouldn't do it any justice.

Up until now, we only had a quick teaser video for the game. Thanks to GDC last week, that's changed for the better. Two videos have surfaced, each showing a different "mode" of sorts. When holding your iPhone horizontally, you calmly walk through a beautiful pixel-filled world, interacting with scenery as you go.

In the vertical mode, which is shown in a second video after the break, you fight enemies by tapping the screen. Enemies that may or may not have an adorable two-pixel-long dong. I'm already a fan of this project. Make sure to look out for Nick's thoughts on the game tomorrow -- he actually played it!

Speaking as someone who has become addicted to all the wonders my little 3 inch touch screen has brought me, I'd probably buy this.

i never thought i would buy something through itunes. there's too much quality free shit on there
as well i never saw it as a gaming device per say, but more of a music device or phone that has gaming capabilities.

it's the same with my samsung hype, the only reason i've thought about paying for the full version of one of the games is because the demos are too short. as far as i know there is no free software for it.
