first off: Iwata tells newsweek about 3rd party sales

yes there are more 1st party sales but he's expecting more third party sales next year. the ds saw the same thing and look at it now.

and to kind of push the idea, rockstar and red octane among others are developing games for the wii.

Another one is Vanilla Ware. of note vanillaware is currently known for odin sphere. supposedly they're making a ninja rpg game for the wii.

another note: i still believe in nintendo and think the wii will be a success. but i also know for a fact the ps3 will at least be #2 in the console war. as for the wii success, i'm hoping for the best but i'll believe it when i see it. the reason for the ps3 in #2 is because i still think people are idiots to buy it now but in 3 years it might be worth it.

Again all speculation and horse shit. You fall for any PR spin from the big N. I am sure 3rd party support will perhaps increase but to what extent. Literally the only saving grace and best case scenario is if 3rd parties do nothing but new IP for the Wii. Otherwise the only selling factor for ports is the gimmick which is not worth it because you can guarantee that graphics and content due to game size will be gimped. This could mean audio quality as well

If not other things. And PS3 as number 2 and fact no less. More blind speculation which is rampant on the message boards everywhere. PS3 might play catch up in 3 years to 360 when it actually takes off. But then again MS will be on their newer console or gearing towards it thus cutting off hype of both companies. Just the nature of the business and smart too since they do not time their console close to the others.

Thing is PS3 is doing a holiday price cut soon which will boost sales. Then you have MS who in a month or two will cut prices just in time for prime holiday shopping bring the core unit ever closer to the price of a Wii which will drive their sales up considerably. Nintendo will not do any price cuts as it is too early and they are in pole position. Wii will sell like hot cakes for the kiddies not to mention Mario Galaxy will be out.

So who knows with new price points what will happen not to mention other game release factors. It is all just guess work. You just have to take a back seat and look at it all. Not to mention a lot of people are hoping Sega jumps in the console fray again in the next 5 years.

360 is also gearing up to more family friendly gaming too as they have the hardcore down pact. A new feature they are adding is timed playtime allowing your children only certain

amounts of playtime and then the console shuts itself down from them. Like no other company has thought of doing this for parents.

Soon enough Canada will have full media download abilities on Live which is the most robust online solution right now for console gaming not to mention Arcade which will have the first content from home programmers through XNA. Nobody is there yet either for another year or two.

Only reason why MS has not caught on is due

to bad marketing in Japan and people associate MS as the big bad company which is just people being stupid. But if they can break into the japan market with more Japan oriented games then they could even rival the big N. But I do not see that happening till maybe next gen of MS.

Either way keep your pants on, it will be a good generation all around.

nah man, i don't think ms will ever do well in japan. japan has always outted outside companies trying to get into japan. and even though i'm sure that ms would love to get in, i think they only have a division there for the hell of it.

i mean for a console to have the guys behind crono trigger, musical guy from ff and artistic guy from crono all in one RPG of all things, you'd think the game would sell well in japan, but nope.

i realize that i may come off as a hardcore nintendo fan, but truth is: as much as i love their games i find myself having less and less time for gaming. especially with my current schedule.

i am a bit of a fanboy though and generally stick to nintendo related news and topics. so thats what i post, but by all means carl, post some ps3 or xbox news.

you are my source for it anyway

As a parent, I am all for the 360's proposed new gaming time setting. With this option I could actually get my hands on a couple kid-friendly games for my 360 and just leave it at Deb's and Bry could play, but only for the time allowed. Would be nice to see this on other consoles, though as the Wii and Ps2 have far more family and kid-friendly games out that the 360 which is really a much more Adult-oriented console. Though I do like this new feature.

I do not mind Nintendo news at all. But you seem to like to take their shtick up the arse. Sucker for punishment lol

360 can do good. Just Japan has a case of the big bad american company that eats other companies. I am sure 360 could do even better here if people went beyond the MS windows are monopolizing bastards and just saw the system for what it was and that is fun.

And I do want a PS3 because there are a few games coming and a few out that I do
