Get stuff from the microsoft store without a microsoft account
I don't like logging into stuff, all the trackers and whatnot out there. So finding ways artound the different appstores is wonderful. Apparently, I'm not the only one and someone has set up a website to do just that.

Go to the microsoft store, find the app you want, then copy the link for the program's page. Now go to https://store.rg-adguard.net/, paste the link and choose then download link you want. Be careful the dates and file sizes. I got Sntach - Clipboard manager this way and downloaded the msi file. Firefox tried to stop the download for security reasons, but it's fine in this case.

Merry Christmas all!

The Duskbloods - Game trailer Nintendo Switch 2
Anyone like the Bloodborne or Souls games? Seems to be in that vain, and Nintendo exclusive to boot.

Pirate Software: How to program
JS this is the guy I was talking about. He's a coder who's worked for Blizzard in the security department, finding hackers and cheaters and whatnot and burnt out from Blizzard environment. Went to work at Amazon if I'm not mistaken and then eventually started his own thing. He's released a couple games, but I think he focuses mostly on streaming now.

He's kind of worked me up to start again to be honest. I have a great idea of an old game we used to play as kids. With that being said, Andy, John and I were in comp sci in cegep. Ask us how many people we know from school who still code for a living...

Western Digital releases software to address data loss under certain conditions
Aha! This is exactly what I was talking about and why I wanted to wait for upgrading to Mavericks.
Western Digital has released a new version of its WD SmartWare hard drive software following extensive reports of data-loss on Western Digital drives after the installation of OS X Mavericks.

The MacRumors Forums, Western Digital's forums, and Apple's Support Communities all had threads about lost data after connecting Western Digital external hard drives to computers after updating to Mavericks.
WD is happy to announce the release of WD SmartWare Version 1.3.6 for Mac 10.5-10.9.

Fixed an issue related to reports of some customers, under certain conditions, experiencing data loss when updating to Apple's OS X Mavericks (10.9).
The WD SmartWare update is available for download from Western Digital's website.

Now, upon further investigation it seems that people were using some back up software instead of time machine, why anyone would do that is beyond me but to each their own I suppose.

Here's a link to that download mentioned

Nintendo Direct Announcements - Zelda and Monolith stuff mainly
Nintendo made some pretty large announcements yesterday, showing off certain games and promising more to come with playable version during this years E3.

Here's the full Nintendo Direct, if you don't want to sit through the entire thing, I go through the interesting points below.

Let's start with Mario and Mario Kart. Nintendo said that up intil now there has been a release of both game for their recent consoles and handhelds since the GBA days and they promise to keep up that trend with the Wii U. The same team behind Galaxy are going to be behind the new Mario (not sure if that's a good thing as I like Sunshine better). No video or images provided.

Also promised a Super Smash Brothers game, though this would be co-created with Namco-Bandai and would possibly be influenced by the Tekken franchise. 3DS would be integral to this game, which reminds me of the old Gamecube Gameboy Advance hookups...

Next, Yoshi's reentry into the gaming space. I found a video of someone dissecting the entire video of Yoshi's game.

Yarn Yoshi takes elements of yoshi's island (super mario world 2 which was a FANTASTIC game), Yoshi's story (N64 game, somewhat childish but still fun) and Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Big announcement about Monolith Soft. the game is not called Xenoblade 2 but rather Monolith's current project. At any rate, a Xenoblade 2 would be a welcome addition as Xenoblade 1 is absolutely fantastic. Loving every minute of it.

Here's a rundown of the trailer by the same people.

Iwata also mentioned a new Zelda and takingthe series back to the basics. Meaning in recent Zeldas the games have been somewhat linear, forcing the player to go to one castle after another. The original Zelda wasn't like this at all. If you could get into the castle, you could try and finish it. It's a long development time though, so in the mean time Aonuma is going to re-release Wind Waker with HD graphics and some new quests. The game looks phenomenal.

Here's the introduction of both Zelda news.

And now some stills.

Wind Waker Wii U

Wind Waker Wii U

Finally, I wanted to show something. It shows the dedication of Nintendo to release top quality products. There's an Wii emulator for Pc that will upscale wii and gamecube games to 1080p. Why would you want to do that? Well, the emulator, Dolphin as it's called, not only up-scales, but can change textures and even add anti-aliasing. Now I bring this up after Zelda because there was some noise about how Skyward Sword looks on this emulator. The following three videos show off what the original game looked like and what the up-scaled versions look like. We'll go by release date, so Wind Waker first.

Make sure you go to at least 720p to get the full effect.

Now Twilight Princess.

And finally, Skyward Sword.

So, with all this, Nintendo clearly could of just up-scaled and re-released, but they decided to retexture and update the lighting and add more quests. Well done Nintendo, well done.

Left 4 dead 2 came out for mac today.
As a promotion, it's only $6.97 (that's 66% off)

i think i'll pick it up when i get home today.

I mean i have far more than enough to play on os9 right now, it's just that for that price it's totally worth it.

Xenoblade coming to wii
This one totally passed under my radar. Monolith Software, makers of the xenosaga series of games, was bought by niintendo a couple of years back. they've been working on an RPG for the wii. i don't know when this was announced but they have a teaser site up with some nice background music.
the following is a pic of the site. really, go check it out, very nice music.

xenoblade
