Just beat Cat quest
I'm going through my steam library trying to clear it out and have been going through games 1 by 1 when I'm not playing TitanFall 2 (Go pick up titanfall 2 if anything for the single player though the multiplayer is awesome as well).

I picked up Cat Quest a while ago and started playing it yesterday. If you look at the steam page, there are tons of reviews on how great it is. It's aesthetically pleasing for the most part with cute graphics. It's part metroidvania and part souls game.

I had to turn off the music after about an hour though as there seem to only be 3 or 4 songs, each playing on a loop when certain things happen.
It can be a relatively short game too, since I was doing the mini quests and after my 10th or so I realized that the entire game was a fetch quest.

  • Go here

  • get this thing

  • oh shit someone stole it

  • chase them to another location and kill them

  • Or someone is missing

  • go there to find them

  • oh shit it's monsters

  • kill them quick

  • now head back to town

Seriously, even the main missions are like that.

I had to force myself to finish it, and only because the main quest is so short I figured I might as well.

The AI for the monsters varies depending on the mob, but all in all pretty pattern based and pretty simple to figure out.

I've uninstalled it, not planning on playing it again, but I could suggest it if you have an afternoon to burn and it's on super sale for a couple bucks.

Pushing the system to the limits
This is a different kind of review show, they focus on games that used to push the older consoles to their limits. Something I've never seen on youtube before.

Very cool. Some old games I've never heard of and other I didn't think were technically difficult. All in all pretty interesting, the only issue I have with the video is it doesn't pay enough attention to the technical aspect but is more of a personal review on the game with a mention of "you needed to use the ram expansion pack for this".

Kingdom Come: Deliverance
This one totally got under my radar. Just look at it, looks plenty nice.

I'm thinking JS and Johnny would love this kind of thing.

Apple shows off Mac OS X 10.10 AKA Yosemite
Don't know if anyone is interested in this but Apple held its WWDC today and aside from the usual focus on iPhone and iOS was the big reveal of the latest incarnation of Mac OS X. Version 10.10 or Yosemite's big news was about the user interface having a minor overhaul (minihaul?). Check it out:

Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite

OOOOOoooo transparencies. Er I mean translucencies.

They mention a bunch of stuff about the internal apple apps, but seriously, who uses those anyways...

The most sane and reasonably explained response to EA/Maxis and their DRM
I've watched this guy on youtube a bit, it's usually a little over the top and crazy but some what entertaining.

Here's the original. Lower the volume before you watch this.

And here he is when not playing as francis. Took me a bit to realize it was the same dude.

More Simcity Footage
I believe I have seen this before but it was recently reposted somewhere and I thought I'd share. I'm iffy on certain things about this game, level of difficulty, no metros, shared areas, wasted space, etc, but it looks stunning.

What's new?
So I was talking to Carl the other day, yup, he's still alive. Not only that he's lurking...

Anyway, was asking him why he doesn't post or comment. He said that he would with a new site design.

So just wanted to update everyone that I will be working on a new design, new tools and a proper admin section. Right now I'm recoding remax's website and making them a custom cms. I'm actually looking for help on implementing google maps into the cms so if anyone knows of anyone who did that, is doing that or knows anything about it, it would be much appreciated.

Aside from that I'm looking for possible features to add to the site, maybe even possible directions to take it in.

I was thinking of 3 or 4 possible directions:
1. Gaming site, reviews, news, media that sort of thing
2. Music, I already have Trance Fridays, so would be open to someone else posting their fav songs, new finds and maybe even if you guys make anything.
3. Hockey, though this one is hard without schu here anymore and the hockey lockout currently in place.
4. Maybe a blog site, but this would keep it in its current format and then not much else would change. I'm trying to get away from this because, and i hate to admit it, facebook and google+ are better for that kind of thing.

small features, one way or another would be to make hockey talk, and trance fridays more prominent plus add a dedicated section for games and post minecraft info, like server info and what not.

What do you guys think?

The Watchmen
The WatchmenI finished reading watchmen a little while ago. Good comic/book but i don't think it lives up to the hype surrounding it. i mean, i just don't understand why people would think it's fantastic.

Maybe I've been hanging out with Christophe too much, he does think either something is amazing or should die, and he said that the story was amazing.
it was just too convoluted for me, not to say i like things straight forward, but certain things could of been kept out, like this.

Watchmen-thumb.jpg

the pirate story is totally unnecessary. and i found myself skipping most of it because i was more interested in the actual storyline of the comic. and i know that it does have something to do with the story but my point is that if they skipped it completely it wouldn't of changed anything.
hell, the story about the news stand guy was more interesting.

Another problem is that people said how great Rorschach is when i don't see what the big deal about him is, especially his part of the ending. i know a lot of other superheroes or 'masks' that act the same as him but are much cooler, costume, personality and power wise.

really, the only thing i want to see in the movie is the ending. just curious as to the scale the film will take it. oh and it will be interesting to see how true to the comic the movie will be.

so, recap. i liked watchmen, just think it's like halo, far too much hype for it's on good.
