it was announced yesterday that metro, moore, bergeron and mara will not be returning to the canadiens next season. mara not that big a deal, and bergeron i liked at first but later on he just got on my nerves with his inability to do anything right. i could of sworn i saw him pass the puck to crosby during the playoffs, right in front of halak too.
i'm sad to see metro and moore go. they'll be easily replaced but still missed.
now let's talk NHL slapshot. aside from the stupid piece of plastic that comes with the game to hold the wiimote, this thing looks pretty awesome.
aside from the nicely styled graphics, the idea of having to work your way through backyard/pond hockey all the way to the majors really appeals to the kid in me. seeing those kids play outside reminds me of when i was a kid.

price looks like he's the number one for sure. pouliot, pyatt and boyd are just a few who have signed. still waiting on word from metropolit, lapierre and a bunch of others yet there isn't much space in the cap for everyone.

Ea is finally making a hockey game for a nintendo console again. there isn't much detail about it yet except for the control scheme. oh and it also has the great one on the cover and in the game, thankyouverymuch.
so now i'm stuck on which to buy, the 2k game or the EA one.
i would imagine the controls can be reverted back to classic remote. the picture also describes exactly what you'll be playing with.
no wii motion plus support concerns me though.
anyway, looking forward to seeing video of what it'll be like.

wow, 6-0? i missed the game, was the game as physical as i would of imagined it? philly is a pretty big team who likes to hit and i think i would of preferred montreal to play boston in this respect.

I'm having a small get together for the game. i'll be going to the gym after work, i should be there between 5.30 and 6.30, and should be getting home around 7.

holy cow that lapierre goal almost makes up for the shitty season he had. almost.
hall gill out, georges and subban pull up their socks. did an excellent job. spacek back, scored a great goal but aside from that was just ok.halak looked shaky in the 2nd.

Montreal wins one in Pittsburgh against the penguins.
the game was a typical Jacques Martin game. get ahead by one and try to get all the players in front of the net to block the shots.
surprisingly, it worked. and what\'s more is that cammy scored two goals. the second was after the 1 goal lead.
Gil played great and got a couple of boos from his old fans when he took care of Crosby a couple of times.
Moore... more is just fun to watch and i think he brings lapierre back to his old self. they really compliment each other well.
my only gripe about the game was there was no coach\'s corner. i guess it was too early to wake up don cherry. made up for it with good company though. dan, jay, Christophe and vikie all screaming at the TV when something happened. nice to not be alone with these things any more.
then watched the Detroit - San Jose game which had so much more physical and much faster. with the way the west is playing i really think someone from there will win it.
jay dan and i were talking about this yesterday. 2 outcomes i\'d love to see:
1. detroit wins and goes on to play the hawks. detroit wins and hossa loses to his old team
2. hawks make it to the finals and lose to the east. hossa loses in the finals again

i can't believe it. it seems impossible. came back from a 3-1 deficit in the series they beat the best team in the league. and the game winning goal in game 7 by lapierre and moore was just incredible.

Could be the last game tonight. Going with Jaro which is a headscratcher but then again we've all been questioning Coach Chocula's choices all year so why should this one be any different. Not that it matters unless someone donates a brain and body to both Hamr and Bergeron. Let's see if the staff has learned their lessons (though they didn't seem to learn when it was happening all game last time).
Let's also see if the Habs can STOP shooting at Varlamov's gut and get some actual shots to create actual rebounds.
Let's see if Jaro can throw Knuble out of his face. (At 175lbs? Yea I'd like to see that happen). I'm sure he's rested now but that won't stop the Caps from running him.
No way we get to see if Price can get a fighting major now :(
God I hope Martin and his staff are gone soon before he ruins more prospects... I just want to give Sergei a big hug.

I have seriously never seen anything like this in my entire life. The Avs had no business winning this game. They stood around and did nothing. Think of that Nashville/Habs game... It was basically the Sharks vs Anderson, they launched 50+ shots at him, and Boyle puts the puck in his own net in OT.
(You should hear the Avs radio guy...he makes it sound like they won the Cup).
The hockey gods hate the Sharks.

who saw the game? not me. it's actually kind of disappointing when i think about it because i thought i would catch every single game this season. i've probably only caught 30-40 of them.
last i saw i was checking out nhl.com and saw that montreal was up 2-1 in the 3rd. but nay, they don't tend to keep leads of a single goal (or two goals for that matter) when playing in the third.
so what happened?

Yesterday, Martin was asked whether he was angered or in any way upset by the heckling of his goaltender.
"I respect the fans. They pay good dollars to be entertained and they have a right to an opinion," he replied. "As a professional athlete, or a coach, you have to work within the framework.
"Sure I'd like to see better results (for Price), as he would. At the same time, I can't say we lost the game because of him."
And with that answer, Martin badly let Price down.
I expected the coach to rise in some fashion to his goalie's defence. Not necessarily in the guns-blazing manner of former general manager Bob Gainey, who called fans "gutless bastards" for relentlessly booing rearguard Patrice Brisebois during the 2003-04 exhibition season.
But after two strong efforts, this was Martin's opportunity to give Price a public pat on the back, an atta-boy, and to call out the Bell Centre ignoramuses who might as well be attending a monster-truck rally for all they understand about hockey.
Martin could have done so in his own mild way, saying that Price didn't deserve the abuse. That might have been a little too subtle for the loudmouths in the cheap(er) seats, but it would have been a message nonetheless.
what the fuck is that? what kind of coach doesn't get behind his players when his players are actually trying to win games.
the more shit like this happens the more i think there's some kind of conspiracy against price.
gainey always stood up for his players through thick or thin. price has been playing his heart out and people just don't see that. it's getting to the point that i hope he gets out of here and does great things somewhere else , he really doesn't deserve this.
