Forcing resolution on Lenovo laptop internal monitor
I've got a lenovo ideapad 5 - i think it's the 15ITL05. Great little laptop with a crappy plastic case, a decent amount of expandabilityram and storage wise and decent cpu. The battery is a bit lacking, but I use it primarily for work on the go so usually have it plugged in regardless.

The main complaint I have is the screen is 1366 x 768 which I thought would be enough realestate but when working on excel sheets and whatnot, is no where near enough. That's the highest the display will go.

That is unless I plug in a monitor that supports a higher resolution. I'm currently hooked up to a 1080p display and when set to duplicate display, it sets the internal monitor to 1080p to match the external one. So, I know the monitor can support the 1080p.

I cannot find anywhere - settings, displays, intel display center to force a resolution. I've downloaded something called CRU or Custom Resolution Utility. Supposedly it can force monitors into specific resolutions, but doesn't work here. At least not with how I've set it up.

Not sure how else to go about this to be honest. If anyone can think of anything, let me know.
