so the 1st has come and gone and the dust should of settled by now.
price looks like he's the number one for sure. pouliot, pyatt and boyd are just a few who have signed. still waiting on word from metropolit, lapierre and a bunch of others yet there isn't much space in the cap for everyone.
schu, any news on anything?

At least his teammates have his back. Hal Gill is a solid human being for calling out the ...
Yesterday, Martin was asked whether he was angered or in any way upset by the heckling of his goaltender.
"I respect the fans. They pay good dollars to be entertained and they have a right to an opinion," he replied. "As a professional athlete, or a coach, you have to work within the framework.
"Sure I'd like to see better results (for Price), as he would. At the same time, I can't say we lost the game because of him."
And with that answer, Martin badly let Price down.
I expected the coach to rise in some fashion to his goalie's defence. Not necessarily in the guns-blazing manner of former general manager Bob Gainey, who called fans "gutless bastards" for relentlessly booing rearguard Patrice Brisebois during the 2003-04 exhibition season.
But after two strong efforts, this was Martin's opportunity to give Price a public pat on the back, an atta-boy, and to call out the Bell Centre ignoramuses who might as well be attending a monster-truck rally for all they understand about hockey.
Martin could have done so in his own mild way, saying that Price didn't deserve the abuse. That might have been a little too subtle for the loudmouths in the cheap(er) seats, but it would have been a message nonetheless.
what the fuck is that? what kind of coach doesn't get behind his players when his players are actually trying to win games.
the more shit like this happens the more i think there's some kind of conspiracy against price.
gainey always stood up for his players through thick or thin. price has been playing his heart out and people just don't see that. it's getting to the point that i hope he gets out of here and does great things somewhere else , he really doesn't deserve this.

Anyone know why price switched from Red pads and gloves to the white ones?
wasn't there big stink about him using the red ones in the beginning of the season? why the sudden switch?
helmets come and go, but pads are forever ;)
price also gets the start in net tonight against the canes.

watching the toronto v montreal game and they were just talking about the number one goalie for the canadiens. i didn't catch it all of it but they basically said that price was on the ice before the game, got the call telling him he wasn't playing tonight and was pretty upset about it. for price to show emotion like that means something is up.
CBC is convinced that because he's not in means halak has pretty much captured the number 1 spot.
i'll admit that the habs play better with halak in net but i still think price is the better goalie...
habs are finally picking up their play but so far a pretty slow game.

Realistically I think the playoffs are doable if they continue to play team games like the...
Montreal played Tampa last night here in Montreal. generally speaking Tampa was not there most of the game.
i still would of like to have seen price in net but the team just seems to want to play when halak is in. it's like he's a hero on the team and his very presence on the ice gives the players a +2 to their want to play.
Gomez with 3 points (i think RDS said he has 7 points in his last 3 games, must be more than that by now)
Metropolit with a goal and assist
Darche with 2 goals.

- Price was amazing and deserved better, but cursed as he is like the previous #31 on this team (Jeff Hackett) he's a good goalie perpetually stuck behind a shitty team.
- Habs are back to one line that might score and a bunch of deadweights that enjoy runnning in circles.
- Everyone will praise the shot blocking of the Habs, but really they just allowed the Sharks to do whatever they wanted in the Habs zone. Lucky for the Habs Price doesn't give off a zillion rebounds like Jaro does. And even then the Sharks still managed 40 shots (projected calculation, if Jaro were there it would have been in the 50-shot range). That's 30 scoring chances too. I honestly don't remember the shots on Nabby 'cause it felt like the Habs had maybe 20 in total and only 10 that were good. (That last glove save Nabby did was actually going wide, all he did was give us on O-zone face off which was stupid of him 'cause the Habs tossed on the extra man).
- CHRIS LEE MUST DIIIIIIIIIIIIE. A stick lift is not a hook you asswipe. And a hip check is not a trip. But oh no, don't call the Sharks on the hooks, trips, grabs 'cause that would be fair. (Not that it mattered, the PP was shit after that one goal Gomez got tipped off a Shark).
- Marleau's shorthanded goal exemplified precisely why they lost last night: Lazy defence and lackadaisical ladida play will be the death of this team. That puck had no business even being in the Sharks possession let alone heading towards the net. Smooth move Markov, Spacek... Maybe someone should start questioning their heart...
- And a curse on you, Vehicular Homicide (Heatley).
- Someone owes Price breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and a lots of hugs and apologies. And if Martin doesn't play him next game he's a fucking moron.
And people are bringing up last year's game against the Sharks and how Jaro "won" that game without bringing up the fact that Brian Boucher was the goalie for the Sharks (not that Nabby was any better, his life wasn't made difficult last night), it was a home game for the Habs without an Olympic break and the old team was together, Habs scored 3 early on Boucher and did nothing the rest of the game while the Sharks got two quick goals in the 2nd and then hit the posts the rest of the game. Suck it, people. Jaro would have gotten pulled last night like all the other goalies in the League (Fleury, Leclaire, Roloson).
But whatever. The Sharks will be bounced in the first round of the playoffs anyway (or second if they're lucky).

during the game yesterday ovechkin knocked gill off his feet and into price who then slid into the net. the goal was called off but there's been a lot of debate about it.
here's the video of the event.
the reason the goal was disallowed was because ovechkin interferred with price. nhl network actually explained it really well compared to rds who said the goal should of been allowed.
nhl said that because ovechkin did not go for the puck but that he went straight for gill (and with the intention to knock him onto price) that the goal didn't count. the reason why he didn't get a penalty is because gill had the puck between his legs so technically he checked a player with the puck, which is allowed.
surprising thing about the call is the refs never went to a replay.
but i've lost respect for ovechkin for the play, not that i had much for him to begin with anyway.
other news from the game...
Price played a fantastic game, he seemed a little shaky through the whole ordeal but it's nice to see him show some emotion on the ice (when the last goal went in he looked like he was going to break his stick)
Georges was hit in the head with a slapshot from Green, here's the video.
was a scary moment, especially with all the players on the ice around him. i think that's when you can tell it's bad. news is that he's ok, but nothing more concrete about him yet.
on the whole though, the game was fantastic. lots of scoring despite the relatively slow gameplay. and the goals, on both ends were beautiful.

The Canadiens have called a 4 p.m. press conference at the Bell Centre.
Team president Pierre Boivin will make "an important announcement regarding the Club's management".
TSN's all-knowing Bob McKenzie says Bob Gainey is stepping down and Pierre Gauthier is taking over as interim general manager.
Gauthier, who will be 57 in May, joined the Canadiens as director of pro scouting in 2003. He added the title of assistant general manager three years later.
A native of Montreal, Gauthier has served as GM of the Ottawa Senators and Anaheim Mighty Ducks.
Gauthier is a vegetarian who is known as the wrong man to ask about nutrition unless you have an hour to spare.
We'll be at the press conference with news, comment and audio.
i see bad things coming. price traded being the top of the list, that or just let go. halak around for another 2 maybe 3 years and not doing as well as this year.
turcot for price? will be interesting to say the least. i'm sure schu will have something to say.
bob, i'm sad to see you go.

So montreal lost to the Blues last night. i didn't watch most of the game, only snippets from time to time and the last goal and some overtime. which means i totally missed this:
i love the fact that price was pulling Roman Hamrlik out of the way to get to Cam Janssen.
What little of the game i did see, Price looked a bit off, like he wasn't there. big rebounds, and i'm pretty sure the OT goal, he was out of position.

Does anyone remember when the Dallas Stars used to be the Minnesota North Stars?
anyway, good game last night. 5 - 3 victory over the stars.
highlight of the game:
Price making good in the third period. he had a couple good saves before that but the first two goals he should of gotten.
Is it me, or is metropolit either not playing with the ferocity he used to play with or is it that everyone else is finally matching his ferocity? i still love the guy and it makes me happy to see him on the ice.
laraque is still overrated but he finally put one in the net last night and made a nice hit without getting a penalty
camelleri, just wow.
gionta two goals, was hoping he'd get an empty netter too. do you think they keep all the hats or they just toss them?
pouillot with a goal and an assist. great trade.
next game is saturday against the Senators. both montreal and ottawa are tied in the standings in point, wins and losses i believe.
who do you think will be in net? i'm hoping price, i still think he's the better goalie.

2DBoy is currently selling World of Goo for "whatever price you deem fit"
can be anywhere from a penny all the way to more than full price of 50$. the game is fantastic and i highly suggest anyone and everyone go and pick it up, pay a buck for christ sake, i can guarantee you'll love it. Kotaku is going on about how cheap people are because 16k people paid a penny for the game ($160+ in total sale for the penny people)
me, i'm looking at the number of people who paid $1 for the game. 15k paid between $1 and $1.99, so if we take the lower value for all the sales we get a total of $15k for the 1 doller people.
it's a pretty good amount of money for a game that was developed by a handful of people.
With the PS3 hitting $299 sales have literally gone through the roof. and to be quite honest it's made me interested in buying a ps3 for the first time since it came out. then the 360 price drop hit a couple of weeks later but didn't have quite the exact same affect. sales went up but not nearly as much as the ps3. and i understand why. no one wants to, or should be forced to pay $500 bucks for a console. you can get a decent pc for that and do so much more with it.
so is it nintendo's turn? of course. rumors now sparking that the wii will hit $199 soon. Toys r us seems to be the first to have leaked flyers, saying yes, it is nintendo's turn.
Does anyone not have a wii at this point? the games are there at this point in time to justify the purchase. resident evil 4, smash bros, galaxy, madworld, deadly creatures, the conduit, little king story, metroid, zelda, wii sport resort and the list goes on with games yet to be released.
my question now is that i have a little more disposable income, what should i get, the 360 or the ps3?
for the 360 i keep seeing games that i'd want to get but then think, ok it'll be out in a year on pc and i can get it there anyway.
the ps3 is another story. the exclusives there don't go anywhere else but there are much much less of them that look appealing to me.
either that or i buy a new mac desktop so i can replace the server this is on.

but it's not the retailers that are jacking up the price in the uk, it's nintendo, and the...
...It's just been less of an issue, that's all. People follow that kind of stuff with the 360 and especially the PS3 because they want those machines to be cheaper, while the Wii, well, it's been pretty cheap since it launched.
But in the years since then, as happens with every piece of consumer electronics, the cost to Nintendo to actually make the things has gone down. And if Credit Suisse analyst Koya Tabata is to be believed, it's gone down by around 45%.
Meaning that, if Tabata's numbers/sources are to be believed, it costs nearly half the price in 2009 that it did in 2006 to manufacture a Wii. Which, yes, nearly doubles the profits they make on every console sold (as shipping costs, etc remain the same). So even with a topsy-turvy Yen and declining sales in Japan, don't cry for Nintendo. They're still doing OK.
