impossible andy... the rumor is that the new macbook will be 800$ base model... theres no way a mac machine that cheap will have a graphics card that is not on board

1 gig is pathetic. 2 gig is starting to look pathetic too.
they'll keep it because it'll be cheaper to manufacture and the price will be high enough to keep their margins up but still low enough to possibly be a sub1k notebook

this is the worst apple update i have ever seen

the macbooks have graphics cards for a way higher price tag... what for? are they trying to push the air for the student market? are they retarded? they definately seem to be shooting themselves in the foot this time around

the cpu is the difference, i haven't read any official things yet but rumor had it that the cpu was going to be this new sweet ass low powered higher clock rate cpu.

i'm thinking of sticking with the old macbook pro though.
any idea on price pro with the store?

i just bought my mbp for 1700 brand new.
put an extra 2 gig ram in there for 69$
going for another 2 gig at some point
i'm loving it so far
even found a version of windows xp pro that i can install with bootcamp
and got the applecare with it for 230 bucks

last year i picked up a second hand last generation intel macbook pro, it's been connected to my TV for the most part for streaming running windows with no issues so far

sort of, but I didn't have a personal laptop otherwise so at least this one is mobile. my last macbook pro lasted me a decade, so hopefully can get at least a few more years out of this one

Oh man, I frankensteined the hell out of my 2011 macbook pro. 2 drive bays, ssds, maxed ram. Then the gpu died - was common with that model - so i hacked it thanks to DOSdude1 tutorial to bypass the dedicated gpu and go solely with the onboard card. Installed os's on there that shouldn't of been installed. It never quite worked properly after that so I bit the bullet and finally got myself a cheapo lenovo which was lighter, more expansion and stronger. Only real issue with it was the battery doesn't last as long but maybe I can get a larger capacity battery.

I randomly tried turning on the macbook pro the other day and it doesn't even chime.

RIP my friend, you served me well.

With that being said, my 12" powerbook g4 still boots like a charm.

i did toss out a bunch of old laptop batteries though, there was definitely a smell of rotting battery when I took those ancient laptops out of the bin.. thankfully they still boot up without needing a battery

side note - i've been on a nostalgia tangent recently. picked up from FB marketplace a CRT tv for NES/SNES games, absolutely zero regrets about it. whatever fancy CRT filters they design for emulators to look authentic on a LED screen can never recreate it properly. i think i now need to keep a spare CRT around forever

Man I'd love to play some old mac games on a g4 pbook. I love my quicksilver and cube, but not having a monitor hooked up can be a pain in the ass. I don't even think any of my current monitors would support the connectors on those machines anymore...
