capcom made, wiiware only

Part of me really thinks this is retarded. Like WTF is the convuluted story of Mega Man now? Does anyone know?

And to go THAT retro I am not sure is a good thing. Like it does not seem like something new. It is like more of the same. Is that the potential of WiiWare?

Seem's all companies love to do things half assed on that system

News comment 4 | User comment 4890 | 12:55 - 7th, Jul 2008

retro is great for 2 reasons, easy and quick. doesn't mean half assed.

this megaman ignores the whole new storyline they have going and gets back to basics with dr light and dr wily. thats it.

Dude they can do much better shit just as fast.

20+ years later and the best that can be done to envigorate interest in Wiiware is to release an NES game. Wow! Hello epic failure

News comment 6 | User comment 1159 | 12:59 - 7th, Jul 2008

Maybe they should just start doing NES games again. I have a feeling it may be more successful then their Wii.

Seems to me the interest has always been there.

it has, and it would be kewl if we could get sequels with updated look and feel through wiiware instead of 3d monstrosities that we're getting now.

that doesn't mean we don't want new stuff as well though. lost winds looks very nice and i can't wait to buy it when i get net at home.

Alex Alex
News comment 8 | User comment 4890 | 13:12 - 7th, Jul 2008

besides, i don't think it's the best they can do. i just think it's hitting a market that has been missed. 2d games are few and far between nowadays unfortunately and the megaman universe exspecially has become so convoluted that it's hard to keep up with it.

Carl Carl
News comment 9 | User comment 1159 | 14:09 - 7th, Jul 2008

For fun they should shove that thing on an NES cart and see how many they can sell. Maybe do a limited edition thing out of it

Alex Alex
News comment 10 | User comment 4890 | 14:33 - 7th, Jul 2008

that probably wouldn't sell well since not many people have working nes and the fact that even if they did t would be a tiny market, not even worth the manufacturing costs.

Carl Carl
News comment 11 | User comment 1159 | 15:12 - 7th, Jul 2008

Well it is cheap and limited. Plus most geeks have a NES still or have a Gen Nex.

andrew andrew
News comment 12 | User comment 1304 | 15:23 - 7th, Jul 2008

I for one would totally buy it on NES

Alex Alex
News comment 13 | User comment 4890 | 15:29 - 7th, Jul 2008

i think in our group of geeks, you are the only one with a working nes too

andrew andrew
News comment 14 | User comment 1304 | 15:31 - 7th, Jul 2008

well, by saying "working" you are being very generous .. it works, but the cover is off and the cartridge need to be secured with an elastic .. other than that it works great!

i hooked up my NES to the TV the other day, replaying maniac mansion lol

Carl Carl
News comment 15 | User comment 1159 | 15:33 - 7th, Jul 2008

I have both an NES (Working) and Gen Nex. The latter is obviously more superior due to direct contact with the cartridge board but nice to know old yeller still can do the job.

Which reminds me I so got to whip out dragon warrior and play that again

Alex Alex
News comment 17 | User comment 4890 | 15:35 - 7th, Jul 2008

one of the hardest games from what i remember.

Carl Carl
News comment 18 | User comment 1159 | 15:38 - 7th, Jul 2008

Not really. Like any other RPG, grind, get gold, get top armor, molest boss, vistory!

andrew andrew
News comment 19 | User comment 1304 | 15:43 - 7th, Jul 2008

DW1 was especially hard though, you were only one guy, unlike the other versions .. so was a bit limited in terms of strategy

DW2 is definitely one of my favourite games

Alex Alex
News comment 20 | User comment 4890 | 15:46 - 7th, Jul 2008

i remember my babysitter bringing over one of his friend's copy of the game and him watching me while doing homework while i played that.

used to love the game because of the music and slimes

Alex Alex
News comment 21 | User comment 4890 | 15:46 - 7th, Jul 2008

i don't think i ever played DW2 though

Carl Carl
News comment 22 | User comment 1159 | 20:10 - 7th, Jul 2008

The other Dragon Warrior games were released in very limited quantities state side hence the insane asking prices on ebay at times.

andrew andrew
News comment 23 | User comment 1304 | 9:53 - 8th, Jul 2008

yeah, I paid way too much for my copies of DW2 & 3 .. but worth it, somehow playing the ROM just isn't the same

Alex Alex
News comment 24 | User comment 4890 | 10:17 - 8th, Jul 2008

what if you could just play the rom with an nes remote?

andrew andrew
News comment 25 | User comment 1304 | 11:26 - 8th, Jul 2008

close .. but still not the same :P .. save states are too tempting

Alex Alex
News comment 26 | User comment 4890 | 12:09 - 8th, Jul 2008

aye, thats because the games were nintendo hard back then

just don't find anything like that anymore
although this mega man comes pretty close from what i've read

Carl Carl
News comment 27 | User comment 1159 | 8:26 - 9th, Jul 2008

Well if it is pretty much an NES game then yeah will probably use that dot chart game continue thing they started doing or have continues but no saves like Mega Man 1.

Alex Alex
News comment 28 | User comment 4890 | 9:49 - 9th, Jul 2008

i think they'll go the dot chart way. it looks like they're trying to make this as old school as possible.

Carl Carl
News comment 29 | User comment 1159 | 8:08 - 11th, Jul 2008

Mega Man 9 is now for 360 and PS3 as well. Man Nintendo can't catch a break with anything exclusive.

Alex Alex
News comment 30 | User comment 4890 | 10:01 - 11th, Jul 2008

typical capcom, they did it with street fighter 2 and sega, they did it with res evil4 and ps2 and now this.

doesn't surprise me in the least. i'm surprised nintendo didn't try to get timed exclusive or something.

Carl Carl
News comment 31 | User comment 1159 | 11:10 - 11th, Jul 2008

I think Capcom just won't let them. I mean why would you be exclusive to the Wii when you can hit all the markets at once and make bucketloads of cash.

Alex Alex
News comment 32 | User comment 4890 | 11:35 - 11th, Jul 2008

loyalty maybe? seems to be a foreign concept to companies nowadays.
it is a little ridiculous too, i must admit.

Carl Carl
News comment 33 | User comment 1159 | 12:52 - 11th, Jul 2008

As "neat" as Wiiware is and the install base of Wii. Only a small - medium percentage use Wiiware or probably aware of it. It sounds silly but it's not like they go and advertise anything. But that goes with the whole Nintendo mystique of them expecting everyone to bow down to them if they want to be hip and cool. Sorta like Apple

Alex Alex
News comment 34 | User comment 4890 | 13:29 - 11th, Jul 2008

i wonder what the stats for wiiware is like. i can't wait for the day my net at home goes up so i can start playing around with some of those games.

has anyone seen any wiiware ads at all?
i haven' even seen anything on sites or even magazines.

Carl Carl
News comment 35 | User comment 1159 | 15:27 - 11th, Jul 2008

Thats how much they support it. Zero! Pretty bad when a company cannot backup their products

Alex Alex
News comment 36 | User comment 4890 | 15:33 - 11th, Jul 2008

i've only ever seen zelda ads and gamecube ads on tv. maybe i'm watching the wrong channels though. maybe i should be watching the more childish channels. ;)

Carl Carl
News comment 37 | User comment 1159 | 11:00 - 14th, Jul 2008

I have only seen Wii Fit adds.

I do not think even on childrens channels they have Wii ads...scary

Alex Alex
News comment 38 | User comment 4890 | 11:30 - 14th, Jul 2008

to tell you the truth i do remember seeing mario and wiifit commercials

and a thought about nintendo exclusivity:
nintendo might not have the money to through at problems like microsoft does ala gta4 dlc and maybe they don't have the ability to change the direction of a market based on which media they use ala gamecube game disc or umd like the psp but they do have a small way to try and keep some games exclusively on their consoles, through gimmicks like waggle and touch.

it will be interesting to see what happens with the rumored ms-mote with waggle.
