Pirate Software: How to program

at 21:07 - 19th, May 2025
JS this is the guy I was talking about. He's a coder who's worked for Blizzard in the security department, finding hackers and cheaters and whatnot and burnt out from Blizzard environment. Went to work at Amazon if I'm not mistaken and then eventually started his own thing. He's released a couple games, but I think he focuses mostly on streaming now.

He's kind of worked me up to start again to be honest. I have a great idea of an old game we used to play as kids. With that being said, Andy, John and I were in comp sci in cegep. Ask us how many people we know from school who still code for a living...

He's pretty much the reason i've been thinking about it. I've just been having trouble getting the drive to get started. Having a hard time with procrastination.

Making games was actually the original reason I wanted to learn to program. That was before i learned what a nightmare it can be to work for game companies.

i've actually started with a project 2 years ago for work and was doing it in my spare time at night. A little HR thing to msake my life easier during payroll. Kid, and now kids, got in the way of night time programming.

I've been throwing around problem solutions to the concept since I started but I just need time to sit down and do it.

Maybe
I should get myself into some crunch haha

i enjoy writing automation scripts (enjoy is a bit of a stretch if i'm being completely honest), but I like the problem solving aspect, troubleshooting it and the satisfaction when the script is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. that's the extent of my programming skills from comp sci. really glad I did not go into software engineering to write apps all day

like so many others with 15+ years of experience in IT, these days I am mostly just an excel wizard making fun reports

Thor is in a lot of hot water right now, something about being negative about stop killing games.

He's kind of dug his heels in and double, trippled and quadroupled down on certain things, and the internet is just tearing him apart. If you like youtube drama, go and look into it.

Personally, about the don't kill games, I've always thought games as a service were a bad thing and I spoke with my wallet, which is what I suggest everyone do. They'll stop making these stupid things as soon as people stop buying into it.
