Sorry for lack of content

Life has been quite something recently. Getting the house ready for the triumphant return of Ale and Leandro, trying to catch up with work. Certain things have had to take a back seat. I'm not willing to let the site die just yet but I realize it must seem pretty dead.

We'll see how things go once we get into a rhythm with the lil guy. Hopefully I will have some more free time to deal with things.

Probably in the summer. We're having a big family reunion sometime then. The actual thing is supposed to be happening on that island we used to go to outside of quebec city, what the hell was it called again? Drawing a complete blank...

Mom, dad and christophe are currently visiting eric catherine and damien in bromont. They just had their first snow so it's basically a lot of pictures of white stuff right now.

If the timing doesn't line up, you're always welcome to come down. We've got space in the house for guests. Either the guest room / office or the huuuge J couch that turns into a queen bed.

But Ale wants to come up to montreal, seems kind of irked that I keep saying there are better places to visit. Almost like I'm holding out on her or something. But yea, we'll definitely be back.

I'd love to come to japan. Always been a dream of mine. Even had plans the last time when I went to Thailand with Pat and Sue.

it's a gorgeous country, highly recommend it! My parents are here now actually, we visited Kyoto and Nara as well as around Tokyo. So many more places to go! Not sure how much longer i'll be here work-wise, but I will definitely come back again many more times!

How was it being back home?

Where do you consider home now?

I've been busy, got a programming itch and started coding a HR / pay stubs / keeping track of payments to employees site on an internal server. It makes me think I should retire this version of the site, start a fresh with the new code i'm learning and just set up an archive subdomain for this so that it's still searchable if anything.

But it's somewhat slow going since I can only code in evenings when baby sleeping and Attack on titan is a big distraction. Highly recommend if you haven't seen it by the way.

I've hit a road block in my coding. The programming is there but I can't figure out the logic on how to do it correctly and it's frustrating me.

I've got a page that I choose which employees to submit the hours, simply check the box next to the employee name and choose a start date. Then I continue to the next section. Based on the checked boxes it prints one giant form with all the names I've checked.

Each employee has a bunch of drop downs for each day's start and end hour and minute and same thing for vacation time in case they're taking vacation, plus some other info like loan payments, additional funds they're receiving and notes for the week, etc.

All in all, it's it's 56 drop downs per employee per week so the amount of info adds up rather quick. Each drop down has to have a unique identifier, so I'm using their employee id, the date and if it's a work or vacation hour/minute + start or end. Otherwise the last employees info overwrites all the other info.

Ok, so far so good.

Now to capture all the info and automate it, I've started using foreach loops and I think I've got the concept but am having trouble sorting through the info.

A possible solution would be array_keys() which I'll need to look into.

Regardless, that's not so much the problem. The problem is that I think I'm over complicating things with the way I'm doing it. I'm basically exploding the keys of the array and then I want to use the info in the key to populate an sql statement and finally take the value's of said keys and do some date() comparisons to get the hours worked. After that basic arithmetic and bob's your uncle, I've got what I need entered into a DB and printing out how much they're supposed to earn for that week.

Problem is I'm having trouble going from one employee to another.

Again, I think I'm overthinking this because I believe all the info is there.

Really I think the problem is that I'm so tired when I sit down at the pc to start programming that I'm brain dead and can't think straight.

It's work related, but a pet project, so I don't want to do it at work but might have to in the end.
