Guy lives in abandoned school in Japanat 10:55 - 19th, September 2020Such a cool story. I stumbled across what seemed like an abandoned school up in the mountains here as well. had 3 playgrounds around it, including what looked like some kind of race track or obstacle course. Very very cool.
Anyway, This caught my eye because when I go to Japan, I want to go to the small villages away from the main cities to experience the true culture of Japan, Not the televised stuff that's all over the media. This dude even turned one of the class rooms on the ground floor into a cafe which apparently gets a lot of customers during the summer months. Made me think, what is the area like during winter? I love little documentaries like this. Similar posts

![]() News comment 3 | User comment 1278 | 12:08 - 23rd, Sep 2020 Yeah, Akihabara is all about Otaku & video game stuffs. Weeb paradise. Mind you probably the best place in the world if you are looking for any kind of retro video game or antiquated console.
The times square equivalent would be Shinjuku & the uber famous Shibuya scramble crossing. Betwen Shinjuku and Shibuya you've got Harajuku which is a slightly bizarre but also neat place to see all kinds of different fashion. ![]() News comment 4 | User comment 4855 | 14:44 - 23rd, Sep 2020 Hmm, didn't think of the retro aspect of it. Can you find counterfeit or emulation devices there too?
Did you pick up any japanese while there? Think you'd go back? Can't remember what you said about work... ![]() News comment 5 | User comment 1278 | 21:19 - 23rd, Sep 2020 I saw a few emulation devices there, but don't recall anything outright counterfeit. China's got the monopoly on the counterfeit production market hehe
Picked up a bit of Japanese, but I'd say it's at a pre-kindergarden level lol .. It's kind of essential because most Japanese people either won't know English or can only communicate at a bare minimum. I'd definitely consider going back for work, but absolutely not for am@zon & would only go for more money.. cost of living is pretty high. Then again, Montrealers are spoiled in the sense that cost of living is low so any other city seems expensive lol ![]() News comment 6 | User comment 4855 | 12:20 - 5th, Oct 2020 I'm surprised there were any emulation devices there. I'd thought Nintendo and Sony would be firmly against the sale of those devices.

Tokyo is a gorgeous ultramodern yet very traditional city, but honestly the countryside is where it's at in Japan, it's so beautiful. The anime, tech, weeb, wacky game show stuff is cool, but it gets old really fast, especially for people who think Japan is only about that. Walking around Akihabara ends up being utterly cringeworthy.
