Wii pay & play

at 13:45 - 22nd, February 2008

"Today, during a GDC presentation, Nintendo's Takashi Aoyama announced a new expansion to Nintendo's Wi-Fi services called Wii Pay & Play. Aoyama explained that Nintendo will begin "collecting fees for some services [that] will allow us to adapt flexibly." In other words, by subsidizing additional, unnamed service and feature costs to consumers, Nintendo feels they can explore new concepts and channels."

some are saying this will take away the friend codes for a more adult version of the system. i doubt it. some other are saying it's going to be a bit more like xbox live. i dunno bout that, but as long as i can still play my games online for free, i'll be happy.

If your paying to play then it is not exactly free right?

And people are happy about this cause?

Nintendo cannot manage an online infrastructure. I mean their whole approach to console communication is a disaster. So essentially people are excited about a horrible infrastructure, no games needing this on the console and being excited about it.

It will also not be an end to friend codes. In fact you probably need an online Wii Code for thier service to identify yourself lol And services would require a hard drive...riiight? Nothing on that announced yet. Talk about backwards thinking.

But hey, we can all play Wii Fit in HD!

what about wiifit?

i read somewhere it was nintendo originally had in mind for the wii before they had even thought up the wiimote.

and i'm distraught about the current way they're taking the wifi, i mean it's screwed up as is, and it doesn't look good for the future if they implement this on a large scale.

but who knows, maybe this will bring the hard drive ;)
