Cool so as great as this all is. I've been in weekly contact with the Montreal police and the department responsible for Harvey's recovery. I have also been in touch with three undercover drug agents whose territory is the mountain. I have circula

Apple announces new iPad mini and Macbook pro 13" Retina Display, updates Mac Mini and redesigns iMac line and "new"iPad"

at 15:34 - 23rd, October 2012
Let's start with the Mac Mini because quite frankly I want to talk desktop computers and not tablets.

Mac Mini

Thunderbolt digital video output
Native Mini DisplayPort output

VGA output using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter (sold separately)

Four USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)

There's also a 2.3ghz quad core i7 model, the only difference between the two:
2.3GHz
2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz) with 6MB L3 cache
Configurable to 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz).
1tb hard drive

iMac

Here's the big one for me, not because of what's in it but because of how it looks. This picture doesn't do it justice.

redisnged imac, late 2012

Tech Specs

there are four different cpu configurations so I won't go into as much detail.

2.5ghz quad core i5 up to 3.2 ghz quad core i5. i7 3.1ghz and 3.4ghz is BTO
8gig standard for RAM, upgrade able to 32gigs.

Apple is "introducing" the fusion drive, something PCs have had for a while but only now is coming with macs out of the box. It's basically a SSD and HDD in one. Standard is 1TB but can get BTO of 3 TB.

iMac ports

SDXC card slot
Four USB 3 ports
Two Thunderbolt ports
Mini DisplayPort output with support for DVI, VGA, and dual-link DVI (adapters sold separately)
10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet (RJ-45 connector)

There isn't much difference with the new macbook pro 13" aside from the retina and small speed bump, and forget the ipad news, Nothing important there.

I don't get Apple - 13" is supposed to be 'pro' model, but they put a crappy video card in it - generation, after generation. you need to lug around the 15" version if you want decent video.

iMac is nice - might get an ipad mini whenever I have 300$ to spend

Yea, the 13 needs a real card in it, ala PowerBook 12" days.

Why not get an android tablet over the iPad?

Just found out today that the 21" imac Has soldered ram, so you have to max it at purchase and pay apple their premium.

if I had 350$ to throw out I'd get an ipad mini.. looking to get a tablet, but the kindle fire isn't bad either AND cheaper

Everything is cheaper. I found a website with parts to build a Mac pro for nearly 1/2 the price. Honestly thinking about doing it. Just need the disposable cash

You should get a Nexus 7 instead of the Kindle. Much more powerful and it's stock android instead of the OS that Amazon modified. You don't have access to the Play store unless you install another OS on the fire. It's 209$

so what's the best tablet out there? I've been doing some research, but can't find anything conclusive.

Nexus seems to be winning, however the Samsung & Asus ones don't seem too bad.

iPad is out - too freaking locked down

I was wondering the same thing but for a base ebook reader.

As far as tablets go, I have no idea. Best person to talk to would be eric i think.
I'll ask him his opinion and post my findings.

thing is the ipad isnt garbage as soon as you unlock it. and if it wasn't so bloody expensive it'd be even better.

hmm, then would be best to go with Samsung tablet or fire, no? same HD screen, more open, can find a way to do all the things ipad does, for free i might add, and the tablet itself should cost less.
