Dude you do realize fantasy is multi genre. This is a more modern fantasy. And what has killed it?

Being in a sort of present day with swords and magic?

You have no clue what the story is, not even waiting to get more info, judging it on a short trailer and spelling the doom. Helloooo ignorance!

Purist have literally complained of most Final Fantasy. This one has sci-fi technology, this one had lasers, add nauseum.

Even the movie can be called a Final Fantasy. And the movie was good for what it was. It was deep, characters were well developed. Just that the purists hated it because it was not Fantasy or their idea of it.

You really do need to open your mind to these things. If I can open my mind about Wii games and appreciate a few, make an effort to inform yourself more on the game.

I can argue Metroid while a good, fun FPS is devoid of any sense of deepness and is just a shallow shell of a story. I like the game but come on, it is not the greatest thing since slice bread.

While this FF may not be your idea of fun it is far from horrible. I would love to see other companies try to do what Square Enix does so well year to year.

I personally think they should if anything get rid of the numerology aspect of the name. It should have a subtitle ala Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within.

I think that in itself would cut half the bitching out of discussions.

thats not my problem at all, they can make it in the year 3xxxxx ad for all i care. my issue is they're doing exactly what nintendo is doing with their ip's: milking it for all it's worth. these games don't need to have the Final Fantasy name in it. Square just uses it to sell the game.

which is also my problem with spirits within. i loved the movie but it totally didn't need the FF moniker, it was used just to get people to gather interest.

and this goes for a lot of other companies as well. mario has a huge problem with this. mariokart, mario baseball, mario party, mariobasketball, mario this mario that.

if they didn't use the mario characters in these games, sure they wouldn't of sold as well, but they would of been just as fun.

sonic is another one. and the list can go on.

Not sure if you noticed but Square Enix is a huge mega ton developer. They have multiple IP going on not just Final Fantasy. They have the luxury of having many FF teams and doing various games and spin offs. And guess what so far they are not that bad.

Are they milking it? You might think yes but no they are not. Every FF game is a new story totally in depth. They even introduce new characters. While they do attempt to even switch up gameplay for better or worse they are original games despite the FF logo hence I suggested the sub names instead of numeration.

Honestly aside from sega nobody is as bad as Nintendo with IP. You get 1 original Mario game a year with all their other new IP having Mario in it. Not to mention they are all fucking mini games.

I will say though the remakes are kinda milking it for Square but they always add a little something to make it worth while. If you buy it, it is your choice but how many times do we wish something was re-released.

But I just think your comparison of Mario to FF is really far fetched. Mario is one of the most shallow characters with little kiddy plot lines. It is like comparing Sesame Street to a Novel.

By saying it is disgusting after a trailer saying they killed it has nothing to do about milking it. You just have an issue around original game stories being told that have the same name. Apparently not understanding the moniker of Final Fantasy. It has nothing to do with the game itself.

Perhaps back up or elaborate your posts next time ;)
