Price's new colours

at 14:48 - 31st, March 2010
Anyone know why price switched from Red pads and gloves to the white ones?
wasn't there big stink about him using the red ones in the beginning of the season? why the sudden switch?

helmets come and go, but pads are forever ;)

price also gets the start in net tonight against the canes.

I miss the big red :(

He's not a complicated guy. Basically just felt like changing. Also his gear is slightly different but that's goalie gear nerd talk (his pads have a different shape and are more rigid).

However if anyone tells you the colour makes it easier to pick holes on a goalie, it's bullshit. Shooters rarely look at the net when they shoot, and when you have a millisecond amount of time to take a shot, you're not standing there going "aw geez where should I shoot" because by the time you decide, someone has stolen the puck from you.

Case in point, Huet is weaker with his white gear this year than last year with his red gear. Used to wear red/blue pads here in Montreal too. For Price it doesn't matter one bit, just whatever he feels like wearing. He spent his Junior years wearing black pads.

...

That said, Hamr is a tower of fail and a piss poor effort from the guys up front = bad loss. This team barely deserves to be in the playoffs. I do hope they stay 8th though, 'cause a series with the Caps would be fun at least. (And Price plays well against them, just like with those other top teams).

NHLTV is a pack of assholes. What's he supposed to do? Score a hat trick? This wasn't Fleury and his weak-goal syndrome...

He was the 3rd star for a reason.

The team just gave up mid-way in the 2nd. He only faced 2 shots in the first, but later? Carolina launched 18 shots on him in the final period compared to the Habs 5... Ended with 25 of 27 saves (can't really count the Hamr one though, since he made the save on Sutter).

If not for Hamr crashing into him and sending the puck into the net, it would have gone to OT tied at 1.

Big key save only RDS noticed was right after Hamr's own-goal, Staal crashed the net but Price is so strong he literally anchored himself at the goal line and held off Staal, preventing him from shoving the puck past him. Benoit Brunet noted that if he were a smaller guy, Staal easily tosses him aside.

Yea. Kostopoulos ran Price over. Not pushed either, he just bulldozed him. It's goalie interference rule (and Habs scored on the PP right after TK left the box).

TK's face was like "ah...oops...sorry buddy..." and cracked a bit of a smile when they scored. Poor guy. He really liked it here.

Martin said today that goaltending is not his problem, but he wouldn't criticize the fans who booed Carey Price when he was announced as third star of the Wednesday game, a 2-1 loss. Fans pay good dollar for their entertainment, Martin said, and are entitled to their opinion.

hold the phone, they booed price yesterday?

Yea there were some idiots loud in the rafters that booed him when he got the 3rd star. Though on TV all I heard was the cheering (during the game too, especially when he did that HUGE glove save). Guess the radio guys have their mics too close to the moron section.

Cammy was pretty upset about it though when the media asked him about it. Of course he was generally upset about the game alltogether.

The mediaheads are speculating they were either booing the fact he was starting instead of Jaro (which is stupid, Jaro's not a magic goalscoring pixie here...and if you want to nitpick I can say the past few games he gave up some massive weak goals) or were just booing 'cause they were frustrated with the team in general.

Frankly I'd like Bob to come out and dust off his "gutless pukes" speech... It would also make us actual fans happier if Martin had a spine to tell those people they're jerks too but that would require emotion.

If they don't like it, they can go cheer for the Nordiques. OH RIGHT! =p
