Mad respect for Carey Price

at 10:24 - 21st, January 2010
So montreal lost to the Blues last night. i didn't watch most of the game, only snippets from time to time and the last goal and some overtime. which means i totally missed this:

i love the fact that price was pulling Roman Hamrlik out of the way to get to Cam Janssen.
What little of the game i did see, Price looked a bit off, like he wasn't there. big rebounds, and i'm pretty sure the OT goal, he was out of position.

The defence on this team is so bad that neither he nor Jaro can ever settle in properly. It's rediculous.

1st goal tipped by Perron as it was heading right for Price. Perron was left to wander freely in the slot.
2nd goal Price was hit by a player while the rest of his team was standing around drooling and the puck popped out for Kariya to bounce it off his leg and in.
3rd 2-on-1 on the bad side (glove side easier to make a save). Gomez didn't bother to help.
4th OT was a mad wrister on a turnover

But THAT was the best moment of the game. The team was dead asleep. It was worse than Sunday's game and we all know how that ended (6-2 Rags while hanging Halak out to dry). What's infuriating though is when they play the way they did after killing the 5-on-3 (or rather Price killed the 5-on-3 until the rest of them remembered there was a game to play) and then in the 3rd period...they can dominate.

But then you have Martin putting Bergeron and Rhino on the fourth line.... What an idiot. Here we were thinking he'd have O'Byrne switch with Mara ever few shifts while double-shifting someone on the fourth line at random but nope, instead he played a defensive defenceman as a forward...

i was wondering about that. i mean i was surprised to see slippy playing forward when he started playing forward, and even more surprised when i saw that he didn't do too badly.
but obyrne as forward just didn't make any sense to me at all.
why not just call up another bulldog, or is he just not happy with the dogs right now?

Slippy is a forward disguising himself as a defenceman. And though Souray seems to have lost his offensive power from injuries or just plain depression (the Oilers suck worse than the Habs right now), I'd rather have that tall, mean, good looking pylon over a guy my friend calls "Bambi".

I don't know why they don't call up any Bulldogs... Part of it is to not ruin some still developing players, but then again, Patches needs to go back down there... I listen to Bulldogs games, and they play better than the Habs. (Boucher's system is attack attack attack some more which leaves Ced to make 15-20 saves a night). They also have a surplus of bodies in that they need to healthy scratch a bunch of guys nightly. Ideally the fourth line should be White, Pyatt, and Conboy (who just came back from a concussion though) or Neilson (dump BGL) because there's NO energy coming from this team except from the angry glares from Price's eyes under his mask and the random abilities of Pouliot.

I would also like them to call up Guy Boucher as coach but that's just me ;) At least then Muller will have company on the bench in the "emotionally yelling at his team to do something" category.

Just heard. About time. Not happy about the buyout though... maybe they could have forced him to retire or something. How did Lou sneak Shanahan's salary off their books with the Devils eh? Hmm...

He's upset 'cause of the timing... but then Gainey said they wanted to do it last week but had enough class not too because of what happened in Haiti so BGL should shutup.

i said the same thing to my friend here at work. they would of except for the earthquake.

good riddance, he's one of those players that never pulled his own weight.

The only enforcer that tries to scare people away with a smile and asks politely while his teammate lies on the ice bleeding or concussed...

Now we have to hope they have the brains to call up Neilson or Stewart.

Yea he's awesome. Another guy who punches first and asks later. He's on a line with Conboy down with the Bulldogs (when they can play him... AHL has a limit on veteran players and he gets scratched a lot, but he was also injured for a bit). When he doesn't play he joins Derek Wills (the radio guy) to give some colour commentary XD

Bob speaks. BGL had a no-movement clause so waivers weren't an option. Trade talks also fell apart. I guess the Oilers weren't that attached to him to bring him back for sentimental reasons =p
