Montreal wins first game of the season

at 22:18 - 1st, October 2009
woo, what a game.
i really thought it would go into shootout but nope, camilleri and georges thought otherwise.
god i love camilleri, he's going to do so well with montreal this season.
gionta and gomez, you guys are magical. it's been a long time since i saw canadiens play together like you do. like you're just having a blast being on the ice.
o'byrne, you're making up for last season. really impressed with your general play.
price, well price is price :) fantastic game, i agree with don cherry, should of gotten first star.
i don't think that gomez should of gotten a penalty with komisarek (i hate komisarek)

shots were something like 46 for toronto, 26 for montreal
hits were something like 37 to 20 for the candiens which doesn't make sense to me since they seemed to be getting thrown around a lot.

what a game.

Suck on that truculence, Toronto. <3

Komisarek was playing like a moron and cost them the game too. (Refs let him off easy...he should have been in the box for 90% of the time). Deja vu? Nice to see him screw it up for someone else this time. And Price can tell Toskala about all the times he's dumped someone into him or interfered in his work.

And METROPOLIT should have been a star too. Guess they had to give one to Toronto but whatever. Can't compare outworking the "sainted" Beauchemin for Moen's goal or his tip in on the powerplay to two very easy open net goals from Stajan (really didn't require any work on a 5-on-3). Guess Toronto got the pity vote on that one. Anyway I'm so happy to have Metro start the season here. I was absolutely beyond happy when Bob picked him up on waivers (thank you Briere and your salary).

God I hope Markov comes back soon... Doesn't sound good though... T_____T

i didn't hear anything about markov, whats wrong with him?

and metropolit is an unsung hero. little guy has so much spunk that every time he gets the puck it makes me smile.

like watching gomez do some offensive play while the canadiens on a penalty. makes me incredibly happy watching the opposing team scrabble in their own zone because gomez and even metropolit sometimes gives them hell while he's all alone.

Markov got tangled up with Price (which caused Stajan's 2nd goal, hence why I think it's lame he got a star) and Price's skate cut Markov. Apparently it's a pretty deep cut too, which is pretty hard to do with goalie skates! (Must have got him right on the edge of the blade, since goalie skates are flat). Like a one in a million chance for that to happen eh? Just our luck. I heard it's a tendon....

At least we got Spacek to sort of fill in Markov's role, but man... he's our best player... I'm hoping the new additions are enough to win games without Markov 'cause before whenever he was injured it was an instant string of losses.

Though I can say at least it's at the beginning of the season and not right at the end when you need everyone the most.

fuck, so basically it's like lang all over again then?

with my renewed confidence in obyrne, maybe he can fill the spot as well. is it true he's the only right handed defense we have now?

Not like Lang per say... It's not an achilles tendon.

Rhino is doing great so far and he can also carry the attack, and beat someone up when they deserve it ;D Frankly he's doing heaps better than Komisarek was at the time of development. Yea, the only righty up here. Weber, Subban, and I think Carle is a righty too. But it doesn't matter much really. (Subban is probably the closest in style to Markov, or getting there anyway).

Also hopefully Hammer can get back up to his better self. Lately he's been a bit out of it. I know he was sick earlier, but I'm referring to last year as he caused a lot of goals against then...

Nielsen isn't a defenseman... But put him on a line with Stewart and Laraque and people will die XD (Too bad neither are centers).

He was on the fourth line. I call him our Adam Burish (looks like him too). But I'd rather he stay with the Bulldogs because Henry broke his hand, and other than Conboy there isn't anyone to do the punishing there. Well... Actually Ryan White had two fights in Scotland and won them both haha. (He's tough too, guess playing with Chipchura does that to you XD)

Markov is gone for...FOUR MONTHS. T_T Lacerated tendon. Time for guys to step up big time.

Actually, it was fights with the Marlies which entertained the Scottsmen. So basically business as usual. Habs/Leafs train the kids to hate each other early.
