The new movie will be a Batman Begins-style reboot, showing the origins of the team of crime-fighting mutant turtles. Legendary Pictures will be producing the film, and co-creator Peter Laird is on board as executive producer. Laird says that the new movie “will remain true to the spirit of the original comic books. ” Laird mentions that the new movie might also use a new face replacement technology, which would allow the turtles to be much more expressive. Unless I’m reading the statement wrong, I think this also may confirm that the turtles won’t be completely computer generated.

Does this not make your day or what? Hallelujah~!

a live action teenage mutant ninja turtles would be great. i loved the 1st and 3rd but only thought the second was ok. it was a bad take on the cartoon.

although i've got mixed feelings about the facial replacement stuff. i liked the plasticky outfits from the originals. though, and this is a stretch, the facial replacement tech could technically work on a CG movie as well. god knows the hardest part of making a cg movie is making a cg movie with humanoid characters. the facial expressions are incredibly difficult to pull off properly.

this news reminds me of this

As you may recall from some of my previous comments, our initial discussions regarding the next film had to do with what we were calling a ?hybrid? ? live action with realistic Turtles rendered in CGI and blended in. This new idea ? which, frankly, I am VERY pumped about ? will have actors and stunt performers in full Turtle suits for filming in live action. As of right now, there is talk of using CGI to do ?face replacement? for the suits so that we can get those great, expressive faces possible with CGI.

So pretty much like Where the Wild Things Are is doing.

And people have to stop mixing the cartoon with the ultra awesome original comics...

i should really try to find the comics, i've heard such good things about them

i had one when i was a kid, the turtles were n another planet and leonardo or raphael was incredibly depressed and his girlfriend (a human from what i remember) was trying to comfort him
