Andy where will you be? Are you staying downtown after work or going home? Maybe we could all take one car.

Because it's GI Joe where the source material had the Cobra terror organization run by a snake man. Also you had a metal headed guy named Destro and a smuggler who would dissapear in the sunlight named Zartan.

Now if you cannot figure why it's over the top, spare yourself from seeing this.

Mother of god, that looks so awesome. Alex I don't care what you say, you can't make it exactly like the cartoon, it has to be updated. Its GI Joe, its supposed to be over the top. Much like Shoot em' up, Wanted, and Sin City. Much like Sex, Violence sells.

but shoot em up was way over the top and was great because of this. this looks more cheesy than anything else.

i just think some things shouldn't be touched. mostly the stuff from my childhood. or at least make it but use cg or animate it, but not live action.

Wow you think this looks cheesy? And Shootem Up was a perfect way over the top and not cheesy? Your opinions on movies should forever be ignored.

a little harsh...

shoot em up was intentionally cheesy. so it was funny because of it. come on the guy delivering the baby while shooting random mooks that come into the room? classic.
gi joe has gone hollywood. it's not a good thing.

I think they are transitioning it very well to the big screen. We can't always get cartoons. Honestly the cartoons now sell out our childhood shows because of how care bear parents are these days. Look at all the iterations of transformers. They had a crazy ass cheesy manga one a litte while ago. Back in the day the cartoon could be watched by both parent and child and be entertaining for both. Now though it's just child oriented and frankly dumbed down.

At least with a hollywood action flick we get to see something for us again. Sure they will change a few things but fuck, seeing GI Joe (just like Transformers) on the big screen is just awesome. And it looks like they are making it for us fans.

If you have indie beliefs and call everything a sellout if it goes hollywood then fine but honestly it's your loss. Indie movies get things right sometimes but just judging from a 30 second - 1 min trailer on a movie and calling sellout is not giving it a fair shake especially when it really does look cool.

but dude, there's a serious difference between the quality of this and the quality of silent hill.

also, they didn't make transformers for the fans. for christ sake they made it to make money. making bumble bee anything but a vw beetle is not right on so many levels, but then to make every autobot in the movie some kind of gm car is just selling out.

transformers was absolutely atrocious, aybe if michael bay or hatever the hell his name is wasn't on it, it might of been better. but come on, they game optimus flames! optimus prime was a giant flaming robot!

and now he's going to butcher it some more by making a sequel...

this is exactly what i think about michael bay and the annoying actor in the movie.

you watch, we'll get all excited about gi joe and then go and see it and it'll be shit. like almost every other childhood-memory-made-movie.

Transformers was great. Sure it wasn't a 100% translation but it was excellent in quality. I am starting to see what your problem is and that is expecting a one for one portrayal. Problem is if they released that then it may or may not sell as well.

Silent Hill came closest and people bitched at it so much. Problem is if you just retell a game story then you already know it so it's boring. You played that. So they have to take things in slightly a new direction.

Could you honestly see Megatron turning into a small gun? Or Soundwave in the next movie turning into a cassette player. I mean they have to change things. Life is about evolution.

there's a huge difference between megatron turning into a small gun and optimus prime having flames.

and bumble bee turning into anything but a vw beetle

1:1 is not what i'm asking for. i'm asking that they take the series a little bit more seriously.

why could tmnt be great but everyone else get it so wrong?

And which movie was more a box office smash...ohhhhh burn. But people cannot relate to a VW beatle anymore. Do you see awesome racing and battles when one is a VW bug. Like come on. They did the nod to the VW and they kept the core of the character alive. Time to modernize.

Wow, I didn't realize that he said No quite a bit in his movies.

box office doesn't mean anything.
people will go see a movie because it brings back memories (transformers) or the preview looks good (fantastic four or spiderman 3) or the name of the movie (indiana jones).

and the bug can house a porche engine, so if they can work it into the story that optimus prime has flames, then they can they can put a porsche engine into a vw bug.

When a movie is a bomb then word of mouth stops it from being ultra popular. It got nothing from praise. Sure people did not like all the aethetic changes to the autobots but still it was a modern telling and hey that is what we got.

And it's not just about bumblebee either. Ironhide would have been an old 80's van. Like Oooo ahhhh Optimus had a flame design on the truck that was only noticeable when he was in truck form.

Just nitpicking at that point.
